MakeMusicDay.org is happening again! this international event was started in France back in 1982 and has been growing every year! Musicians in hundreds of cities around the world put on free shows on the solstice just … because! Music is in us all. We are part of the vibrations of the universe!
PDX Icons will be playing at Sellwood Riverfront Park – SE Oaks Park Way, Portland, OR 97202

The Rumpus Room!!
Saturday September 17th – it’s going to be a fab ROCK show with two other great local PDX bands joining us.
The Brinksmen will be on first, kicking off the evening fun at about 8:30… followed by Cherrybomb 13, and then PDX Icons will close out for the evening… late until last guest falls over 🙂

Tuesday Evening 7pm on the Summer Solstice
(er.. that’s June 21st this year, 2016 😉
we’ll be on stage at 7pm for the international Make Music Day event!! It’s a crazy worldwide collaboration to put as much live music on at the same time (around the globe!), in literally hundreds of cities in dozens of countries – Portland is putting up 20 venues this year! Each with 2 or 3 bands playing.

PDX Icons will open with an original set of gloriously guitar-driven rock, and then The Magnets will give you something to dance to with a couple of sets of some favorite tracks from the 60’s to the 90’s! PDX Icons will be back on for a second set around 11pm for the night-owls and vampires – we’ll stay until late!
From 8pm until after midnight – $5 cover
Come early and enjoy some of the best fish’n’chips in town + some excellent UK beers!! Newc’y Brown on tap anyone?! Whey Aye Man!
The Tardis Room is a Dr. Who inspired theme bar/room attached to the Fish and Chip Shop next door! How much more fun can a person possibly have!! Fab authentic English Fish and Chips (yes, Dave, the owner is English, and you should try “The Codfather” – prepared English style!!

Battle of the (Tech!) Bands!
Oct 8th, 7pm to 11pm, at Mississippi Studios and BarBar
Join us at the Tech Association Oregon (TAO) Battle of the Bands! Five bands representing their members’ technology companies – and yours truly with PDX Icons of course! – will do head to head battle for votes and the judges to be crowned victors! The competition is pretty intense I think! You can check out all the details and ticket information and links to all the competing bands at TAO Battle of the Bands!
While most TAO networking events are for TAO members, this particular event is open to anyone! So even if you aren’t a TAO member, or aren’t involved in the Technology Community in Portland, and you just like new original music, you can come on out and cheer for your friends and favorites!

NOON! Time has changed… one of the other bands dropped out so we’re probably starting earlier and maybe playing a little longer…
UNITY 2015 MUSIC FESTIVAL AND RECOVERY CELEBRATION
We’re playing early in the afternoon, around 1pm! There’s a whole day of music entertainment on the Oaks Park Main Stage.
The line-up of entertainment is …
PDX Icons (approx NOON!)
- A hard rock band
- A country band
- Robbie Laws Band
The event is free and open to all, supporting Unity and also Portland Area Narcotics Anonymous. Here’s a flyer from Portland NA Events . The event is packed with activities and fun for the entire family including food and drinks, kids activities, volleyball, tug-o-war, dunk-tank, memorabilia, horseshoe pits, and lots more! And of course live music all afternoon!
